Wasting time

I'm in the computer labs at uni, waiting for my next tutorial to start and bored as hell. So I shall do a meme gacked from various people.
1. I'm left-handed, but use my right hand for a few things.
2. I'm one of ten children (7 girls, 3 boys). And no, my parents are not Catholic - just insane.
3. I almost got to go to high school a year early - I had to take a test and I was only 4 marks off - damn!
4. When I did go to high school, I went to a selective school, which is suposedly for 'gifted' kids. The school work isn't harder - there's just 10 times as much of it, designed to leave you with no time for a life and give you a nervous breakdown by the time you graduate.
5. I don't have a driver's liscence. My mother let me drive once and then calmly informed me that I was never to get behind the wheel of a car again because I'd most likely kill someone. Way to build my confidence, Mum!
6. I don't plan on ever having children, which people find weird, considering I'm going to be a pre-school teacher. I like kids I can give back at the end of the day.
7. I taught myself to read before I started kindergarten.
8. I've been writing fanfic since I was a kid - when I was seven I would write about characters from books I'd already read, and my teacher would praise me for being so creative and clever - so of course, I never bothered telling her that the material wasn't 100% mine! LOL
9. When I was two, my brother tripped me over and I fell against the grate on the heater, cutting myself over an artery, so every time my heart beat, more blood pulsed out. By the time my parents turned me over, one of my eyes was completely drowned in blood and for a second they thought I'd lost an eyeball. I still have a tiny scar next to my eyebrow from that incident, and always have to tell the story of how I got it when people notice it.
10. When I was five, I had my tonsils and adenoids (sp?) removed.
11. My favourite story of all time is Peter Pan and I collect different editions of the book.
12. My greatest talent is procrastination.
13. I've always been a slash fiend - I can remember being in kindergarten and going all gooey whenever I saw two boys in my class hug each other.
14. I got my first kiss on a New Year's Eve at midnight, standing in the middle of Captain Cook Bridge in Sans Souci. Very romantic, except for the fact that we were drunken teenagers, and he was groping my ass in a way that made all the people in cars driving past, honk their horns and yell, "Whoo!" I still enjoyed myself though. *g*
15. I've smoked exactly 3 cigarettes in my life. After the last one, I vomited so badly I can't even smell them wihtout feeling sick anymore. (Actually, the throwing up was probably more due to the half bottle of vodka I'd drunk beforehand, but nothing is gonna turn me off my drink.)
16. In August 2001, I was diagnosed with clinical depression and I've been on anti-depressants ever since. It's no big deal - I'm mostly okay, I just fall apart without medication, because of chemical imbalances.
17. When I was in ninth grade, we studied 'Wayne's World' in English (my teacher kicked ass), and I distinctly remember leaning over and whispering to my friend during the movie, "Hey, don't you think the 'I love you, man' guy is totally cute?" Hee! Little did I know where my observation would lead...
18. I've fallen in love twice in my life. And had my heart broken twice. *sigh*
19. I'm the only person in my family with blue eyes - everybody else's eyes are various shades of green and hazel.
20. I'm an incredibly fussy eater. I have the eating habits of a toddler and according to every dietician in the world, should be dead about three times over.

Date: 2005-09-15 02:23 am (UTC)No. 4 -- I didn't go to high school early, but I did test out of a year of college.
No. 6. I didn't plan on ever having children... and succeeded in achieving the goal. Very happy with the choice. I like kids -- just other people's.
No. 7 -- When I was in grade school, I used to write plays based on Star Trek, Batman, The Monkees and other shows I loved.
No. 10 -- Me too!
No. 13 -- I was so glad to find out that what I liked had a name, and its name was slash and that there are so many women who like it too!
And finally, No. 17. ... that is just *too* cool!

Me too - I knew there were other slash-fans out there, but I'd just never met any. Thank God for the Internet!

LOL - the funny thing is that when I saw Wayne's World was around the same time that Oz started in the US - and poor me had no idea what she was missing!
But it's weird how that memory is so clear in my mind - I just wish I had similar memories of Weird Science. I do remember watching it when it aired here about 10 years ago, but do you think I can remember Lee? Noooooo...

Date: 2005-09-15 10:08 pm (UTC)I don't have a liscence either. Too scardy-pants. The idea of traffic ams with me in the middle and angry, fat male drivers calling me a 'dumb bitch' at the top of their lungs does not appeal to me very much. LOL
8. I've been writing fanfic since I was a kid - when I was seven I would write about characters from books I'd already read, and my teacher would praise me for being so creative and clever - so of course, I never bothered telling her that the material wasn't 100% mine! LOL
I was always adding new characters to stories I read. I'd usually pick up at a point along the plot line, insert a new, original character, and work it up from there. Weave him/her into the plot, give them powers and pourpose, but never the center of attention. My characters were always the side-effect, secondary hero I might say. No one has ever seen my scribbles, I was a very shy kid.
18. I've fallen in love twice in my life. And had my heart broken twice. *sigh*
All the heartache that I should have felt when I was young(er) seems to be coming at me now with a vengeance. I figure it's my due, 'happily ever after' is just a fairy-tale line after all, right?
