pride_of_erinI had my first brush with the law today - if you can call a transit officer on a power trip 'the law'. Apparently, being reckless enough to buy a student concession train ticket without having your student card on your person is a most heinous crime worthy of a $200 fine. 200 bucks I so totally don't have, I might add - especially since I won't be getting paid for the next two weeks. This sucks. And it's such a complete joke - the regular ticket price is $5.40. A student concession is $4.40. I'm being punished to the tune of $200 dollars when I'm already up to my ass in debt, because I forgot to bring a piece of plastic that says I'm entitled to A WHOLE DOLLAR off. Sheesh, it's not like I didn't buy a ticket at all. Assholes. I'm totally contesting the fine, although I have no idea how much good it'll do.

Ahh, Beecher - one half of the greatest ever TV couple. To be honest, I never liked Beecher as much as Keller - I just don't understand him the way I understand Keller, and most of the time good ol' Beech leaves me wanting to slap him. But I love him anyway, for being weird and fucked up and passionate and always trying to the right thing (Even though he usually fails). Hard to believe that a little over a year ago, I had never read fanfic and no desire to do so. In fact thought the whole premise was pretty pathetic. Now here I am writing it and spending the majority of my time reading it. I will happily survive on 5 hours sleep a night, if I can stay up and read good!fic. I also have my standards about what constitutes good!fic, but I'm usually willing to read bad!fic as well, if it is at least a good story in it's own right (although I'll wonder why they didn't just change the names and post it as original fic, because that's basically what it is). - homosexuality:
Um, yeah - what can I say? This has been my personal kink since forever. I first found out about gay sex when I was about eight, and the whole idea of it fascinated me. In fact, I think I may have freaked my mother out with all of my curious questions. Then when I got older and started seeing movies with gay characters and boy kissage...yeah, I was hooked. Plus I'm interested in any form of sexuality due to my own confusions and ambiguity in this area anyway. - law and order: svu:
A big fan of the show, but obviously I mostly watch it for Meloni. Stabler is my favourite character, and I love when we get to see glimpses of his dark side. I also love Munch's sense of humour, and I used to like Alex as well, but then she left and I hate her replacement. I also can't stand Olivia, for reasons I can't quite articulate. - mckay:
WOOBIE!!! I admit that when I first watched Stargate: Atlantis I saw no slashy undertones - none. But I kept watching for one reason and one reason only - in the space of an hour, I fell ass over teakettle in love with Rodney McKay. I loved the snark, I loved the tantrums, I loved the arrogance, I loved the bitchiness. He was by turns funny, annoying, sweet and exasperating. He had people's best interests at heart, yet was so socially inept that no-one saw it. I love him, and I love David Hewlett for the way he makes a potentially one-dimensional character so much more complex. Plus he's such a cutie. - movies:
Ultimate form of wonderful, wonderful escape. I am escapism's biggest supporter, and I love disappearing into the alternate realities that movies provide me with. Plus I love going to the movies - sitting in the darkened theatre, eating popcorn, blinking like mole in the bright light after you emerge, like you been to another planet for 2 hours. I love all of it. Plus popcorn is my favourite smell in the world - I could walk into a cinema lobby and just stand there sniffing for an hour. - popular culture:
More escapism. Plus I'm a magnet for pointless trivia about TV shows and movies that I watch. Half the things that come out of my mouth are quotes from something else. I also enjoy mocking those pop culture victim teenagers who get sucked into the hype way too easily. - slash:
Oh man - slash is what turned me around on the whole fanfic thing, because until I started reading B/K fic I had no idea that m/m smut could be an element of fanfic (*so* naive). And then I discovered that the internet was full of stories about my favourite kink. And not just smut, but lovely romantic/angsty/funny/etc tales about men in love/lust. And my brain exploded with excitement and joy, and I started spending a *hell* of a lot more time online. - the simpsons:
Best TV show ever. Hands down. I'd say it's even better than Oz (although not by much). It's clever, it's insightful, it's takes the piss out of the very same things that I mock, it's funny, it's iconic of my generation, and I can watch the same eps over and over and over again without ever getting bored. I love it. Plus it provides me with a snarky quote for every single occasion in life.

I don't know quite when, I wasn't that fascinated by sex, sexual difference, etc. Where babies came from held no interest for me. All I knew was I didn't intend ahving any (I've kept that promise). Then! I discovered not everyone played by "the rules" that had always seemed arbitrary to me and! those who didn't were in line with my secret suspicions about how things really worked in books. E.g. Shelock Holmes and Doc Watson and on TV, e.g. Mr Spock and Dr McCoy.
5: I like Olivia. She's got pretty eyes and a nifty wardrobe. Call me superficial.

BTW, I thought his divorce made sense - it was a bit out of the blue, but that's because he'd been keeping it a secret. But there were always mentions of how hard his wife found it dealing with him not being around much, and also how hard he found it not being able to talk and relate to her when he had this whole other life in his work that he didn't want her to know about. The break-up was inevitable from that perspective.
(Plus he had to get divorced. How else is he going to hook up with a cute lawyer named Beecher or a hot US Marshal named Eddie? *bg*)

He's so pretty she can just look at him instead, across the (silent) dining room table. That should have been enough. She should've been grateful. And he could have opened up to someone else at work who'd understand.
But you're right, every cloud has a silver lining. Maybe Agent Beecher or Eddie Drake is the big surprise in the next season. If DW has been reading Oz-fic then he'll be on the right track.

Until Helm's Deep, when they broke off in mid-cackle and stared at the screen with their mouths hanging open.
Sorry about that - shouldn't start talking about LOTR!
Usually, however, I am one of the few who don't feel the same. You know, where they're all on the end of their seats with fear and suspense and you've already figured out what will happen next or they're all in stitches with laughter, but you aren't, even though you understand the joke. That's kind of annoying.
